The New Jersey Department of Community Affairs (DCA) has released its much-anticipated report outlining affordable housing needs for the state’s 2025-2035 planning cycle. In compliance with the new Affordable Housing Law, the report assigns each of New Jersey's 564 municipalities a share of the statewide need for 84,698 affordable housing units, with the highest obligations in the northern regions. Municipalities must finalize their housing obligations by January 31, 2025, with opportunities for public challenge by February 28, 2025, through a newly established dispute resolution process.
