Newark Reducing Unsheltered Homeless Population, Plans New Initiatives In 2025

Newark is making strides in reducing unsheltered homelessness, with a 43% decrease in unsheltered individuals compared to 2022. The city’s initiatives, including transitional housing projects like Hope Village and expanded street outreach teams, are providing essential support for those experiencing homelessness. With plans for more container housing and a new 24/7 drop-in center, Newark is continuing to address the complex needs of its homeless population while working to improve housing stability.
