Burlington County has begun building its first-ever emergency shelter in Westampton to house up to 60 adults experiencing homelessness. The $18 million facility, supported by state and federal grants, will provide 24-hour security, medical triage, and case management to help residents transition to permanent housing. While some residents raised concerns about the location, county officials highlighted the urgent need, with Commissioner Director Felicia Hopson noting the shelter’s importance for community safety and support.
